INFORMS Anual Meeting - INFORMS 2010, Austin (United States of America). 07-10 November 2010

Summary:
This project deals with the re-design of underground schedules for maximizing the use of regenerative-braking energy by means of synchronizing the slow-down of trains arriving at station with the speed-up of trains exiting from other station. Energy savings of 3.5% were achieved with respect to the previous schedule in Madrid underground system. The correlation between measured energy savings and the synchronization achieved is very significant, 75.2%.
